PROJECT BRIEF:

Based in Liverpool, McBurney Refrigeration required an extension to their temperature-controlled cold storage. They called Pearsons for feasibility, project management and design services for their cold storage extension. As the planning approval would be a long process, they needed a design package to tender out to contractors consisting of architectural, mechanical and electrical and structural design.

THE RESULT:

To achieve maximum time efficiency and get the project to an early stage, we developed a two-stage design and build process. The planning drawings and structural drawings were progressed to an advanced stage, and a risk assessment was conducted of the demanding nature of the logistics site. We then sent this out to contractors through a two-stage tender procurement route to get early design contractor engagement. This allowed us to navigate the best route for the client, avoid site disruptions, and remain both high-quality and cost-effective.
